Relaxation techniques, which incorporate all of your senses, will help you and your partner focus your energy and work with your pain toward a positive and productive labor. Used with both visualization and massage, relaxation helps women to surrender to the power of their labor and progress, moving more smoothly through it to give birth to their babies.

Reiki Energy Work….

is safe to use during all stages of pregnancy from conception to childbirth. The positive effects of Reiki can be extended to unborn baby. Reiki can be used throughout pregnancy to relieve the stresses and discomforts that the mother is feeling. Reiki can restore an expectant mother's well being.  During birth, Reiki is offered to mothers and babies to help reduce the trauma & stress.

Tests conducted at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut show that Reiki used during pregnancy reduced anxiety by 94 percent, nausea by 80 percent, pain by 78 percent and improved sleep by 86 percent.

Foot reflexology brings many benefits for the future mother and can be of enormous support, in particular, it gets rid of stress and tensions, brings about deep relaxation, can regulate and improve blood circulation, eases backaches, provides a state of well-being during pregnancy and helps the mother to be more attentive to her baby. Reflexology can also be helpful in labor and delivery, as some midwives use the treatment for pain relief during labor.

   24 to 48 home birth clients per year (2 to 4 clients/month).

   Kim Mosny, CPM, LM (Va) is the Senior Midwife and
   Owner of Home Birth Midwifery Service,  having been "gifted with"
   the practice by her primary mentor, Margie McSweeney, RN/CPM.


Kim began Primary practice in 1996 after a three-year apprenticeship
(1993-96) with midwives: Margie McSweeney and Martha McBride.

She is an apprentice-trained Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credentialed by the
North American Registry of Midwives (NARM).
Kim is a member of NARM’s Statistics Committee.

Kim is actively involved in local, state and national midwifery organizations.
