Valerie Monterrey, CPM
Certified Professional Midwife

About me:
I am a mother of six children, I have been studying midwifery and child birth in the home setting for the past 18 years. I have worked in Washington, Texas, Michigan and Pennsylvania under senior midwives practicing my clinical skills. I have participated in 180 out-of-hospital births. I am trained in the use of emergency medical procedures and equipment in the unlikely case it becomes necessary. I am working in NWPA, as a trained direct entry home birth midwife. I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM).Certified by North American Registry of Midwives.

Philosophy: I believe that women are the key to healthy families and thus society. I believe women are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. I Believe that they are able to birth naturally without intervention except in the most extreme and rare cases, about 5% of cases.

I want to educate women to become responsible for their own health, to learn all that they can about their bodies and about procedures often proscribed for them and their families. I want them to be aware of their alternatives.

According to the WHO World Health Organization about 5-10% of cases require specialized obstetric services.

Midwives Model of Care
Midwives model of care includes prenatal visits and hands on care through out labor, birth and postnatal care.

Women are discovering that the hospital is not the only safe place to give birth. In Fact women are more likely to labor best where they feel safe, and privet, and with whom they know and trust.

Midwives Model of Care is fundamentally different than hospital births.
