I regard birth as both the natural, normal function of a woman’s body, and an incredible miracle as another being joins us on the planet. Midwives have always been the guardians of the normal in birth, but in today’s high-tech world, equally important is the midwife’s role as the maintainer of the sacred space in which women birth. I strive always to be “high touch, low tech”, although I have the greatest respect and gratitude for the technology when it is needed. I am honored to be called to this work.

I am  a midwife with 28 years experience, herbalist, wife, mother, grandmother, Christian, teacher, gardener, woodworker, backpacker, student of life. I have 3 years experience as a crisis intervention hotline telephone counselor, and received my licensure as an EMT in 1993. I teach OB/GYN refresher courses for EMT’s and Paramedics, have taught for the Massachusetts Midwives Alliance Basic Course in Midwifery Skills and  Hands of Light Midwifery School, as well as serving on my local Board of Health. I am also a Qualified Evaluator for midwifery skills for the North American Registry of Midwives, and I run a small, mail-order herbal preparation business, Earthcrafts Botanicals, from my home.

I practice from my home/office set in three acres of organically managed gardens and woodland, where I grow the herbs for Earthcrafts and provide sanctuary for endangered plant species (and an incredible number of very busy chipmunks). Range of coverage: Within 60 miles of Uxbridge.
